No harassement for hard working employees
The parties agree that the principle of a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay shall be observed at all times and employees shall perform their duties in a manner that best represents the Employer’s interest. The Employer shall not in any way intimidate, harass, coerce or overly supervise any employee in them performance of his or her duties
Opinion: Many times management will harass an individual, because of productions issues. This is typical and something that one can take seriously or not. This depends on if you are concerned about your numbers whether delivering packages, loading trucks, or how long you take in driving a particular leg. That is up to you. Once again, harassment can be taken lightly or seriously, depending on the individual The one common thing all employees are allowed, is to work in an environment in which they are not intimidated or harassed on any level. This was the environment we all thought we were going to work in when we approached the company for employment, but the company also sells the idea that we will be working in a particular environment and should ensure that a respectful environment exist for all employees. So expecting such an environment is not unreasonable in the least.
Problem: Harassment happens despite what is written in the contract. The problem is the individual who does not know their rights and exercise those same rights. Not knowing what do when harassed is the real problem, not the fact someone is being intimidated or harassed in the first place. The following is the process and it does work.
- First make sure management is aware of the one of the following; The Code of Conduct, UPS Harassment Policy, or Master Article 37, section 1.
- Notify Human Resources via the UPS hotline.
- If the harassment continues you notify your union representative and pursue the idea of filing a grievance.
- File the grievance
- If no action is take, then continue to takes notes of all you interactions with this individuals. Paperwork in the form of notes and grievances will lead you to seek our one of many government agencies that deal with your issues.
